What if mystic gohan went ssj

The eldest son of the franchise's main protagonist, Goku, Gohan has many of his father's Saiyan transformations, including the first two Super Saiyan forms; in fact, he was the very first to go Super Saiyan 2. However, by the end of Dragon Ball Z , Gohan gained the ability to power up to a different state entirely, unused by any other character in the Dragon Ball canon.

Dubbed by fans as Mystic Gohan or Ultimate Gohan, the transformation has the Saiyan warrior's facial features and hair transform slightly, similar to transformations as a Super Saiyan; however, unlike other forms, Gohan's hair retains its natural black color with the energy aura emanating from him a translucent white instead of the Super Saiyan's trademark golden hue. It is a form that surpasses previously established Super Saiyan forms, even allowing Gohan to go toe-to-toe with Goku at Super Saiyan Blue; and yet, it is perhaps the most undefined Saiyan transformation in the entire franchise.

Gohan gains access to the Ultimate form while training on the Supreme Kai's planet, accidentally freeing the imprisoned Elder Kai from the Z Sword. To date, Gohan is the only main character and Saiyan to have received it, with Goku and Vegeta instead exploring their new Super Saiyan God forms.

Perhaps they made the right choice, but there are also reasons why the Mystic ability should not go overlooked. In many ways, the Mystic power-up is a replacement for the famous golden-haired transformation— in fact, powering up as if going Super Saiyan was how Gohan managed to unlock Mystic in the first place. If anything, it would be detrimental, given how merely transforming into a Super Saiyan consumes energy.

A fact that would no doubt please Chi-Chi, as she always felt the Super Saiyan form made her Saiyan family members look like delinquents. For Gohan, a half-Saiyan, the increase was enormous, but the same may not apply to a fighter with less hidden power. Daizenshuu 2 states that Ultimate Gohan is still capable of becoming a Super Saiyan, but even without utilising the form he surpasses Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks in power, if Ultimate Gohan was to become a Super Saiyan his power would likely rise to levels above even Super Buu Gohan, Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks absorbed.

Actually, Gohan's Mystic Power-Up actually made it so his ki transformed to that of a Kai, but doing so made it so that his appearance doesn't change when he goes Super Saiyan. When he fought Super Buu, he was actually a Super Saiyan 2 charged by Kai energy, but the Kai powers he got from his Mystic training made his Super Saiyan lose the aura and hair and eye color. Apparently that Kai training has worn off by the events of Battle of the Gods, Resurrection F and Dragon Ball Super because he went back to not training.

It makes perfect sense that Ultimate Gohan the official name for the "form" can go Super Saiyan. Whenever Gohan had sudden outburst of rage and power he utilized and unleashed very small portions of his full power, the greatest example of this was him transforming into and SSJ2 against Perfect Cell.

Ultimate Gohan is just Gohan with his potential unlocked, he can't get stronger than that naturally, but utilizing forms and skills like the Kaio-ken, and Super Saiyan forms would multiply his power. For further proof, the Daizenshuu 2 clearly states that Ultimate Gohan can go Super Saiyan, and doing that would make him even stronger that Buuhan. Sign up to join this community.

Is there any reason that Gohan couldn't transform to Super Saiyan form after the awakening? The manga version of the Tournament of Power elaborates on this during Gohan's fight with Kefla a battle which doesn't actually happen in the anime.

When Kefla asks why he doesn't transform, Gohan confirms that not going Super Saiyan is actually a choice. By avoiding the Super Saiyan form, Gohan is embracing the human side of his heritage.

Unlike Goku and Vegeta, Gohan is only half-Saiyan. It should also be pointed out that Gohan has a good reason for not needing a Super Saiyan transformation.
