Once pcAnywhere has been installed it provides convenience to the user because they can have access to a second computer with being in the same location as the computer.

Users find this software beneficial because it allows them to retrieve and share files between computers that are in two separate locations using a secure connection. The drawback to the average user that chooses this software is that if technical support is required, it can be expensive.

Technical support is also limited to the weekdays and not available on weekends. Another complaint of this software is that is designed more to fit the needs of large businesses, containing elements that are not useful to the average user. In order to use the program, users must first set up a username and password.

An Internet connection also needs to be established. The pcAnywhere software must be installed on two computers. One computer functions as the client and the other functions as the host. The host computer is the one that the user is attempting to connect to and the client is the computer that is used to provide the connection.

If you caller is a network user not a local pcAnywhere caller then include the domain. Select the Encryption tab. Under the Settings Level select the level of encryption that was used when the host was built. If you don't know or you connect to several different hosts then this can be left blank but you will receive a warning menu when connecting to a host that has encryption informing you that the encryption level was increased.

Select OK. Name the Remote appropriately for its purpose and so you can identify it later. Connecting to a Host. Start the Remote by double clicking on the appropriate host in the list of Remotes available in pcAnywhere Manager. When asked for Host Login credentials use the user and password set up on the host.
